Piggie Fun Fact #12: How Many Toes Do Guinea Pigs Have?

     This might seem like an odd question, but guinea pigs actually have an interesting amount of toes. They have 4 toes on both of their front feet but only 3 on their back feet. This is a good thing for creating burrows, but it makes them barely nimble so they aren't that great at climbing. That's why it's important to not buy a tall cage, or one with ramps (some cages have removable ramps/platforms). A wider cage is better than a taller one!
