The Lifespan Of A Guinea Pig

Guinea pigs live for about 7 years on average, but it can be anywhere from 4-8 years for healthy guinea pigs. Unhealthy guinea pigs or guinea pigs that live alone live about 1-3 years. Healthier guinea pigs can live up to 10 years.
The oldest guinea pig was 14 years, 10.5 months old and his/her name was Snowball. Guinea pigs are great pets because they live longer than hamsters (2-3 years), a bit shorter than dogs and cats (up to 15 years!) and they live much longer than fish (1-2 years).
One month in human years is about the 2 years in guinea pig years. By the time your guinea pig reaches the end of his/her lifespan, he/she will be about 85 years old or older! So, in a way, guinea pigs have about the same lifespan that humans do.
