Looking At The Ingredients Of A Treat Packet

If you have guinea pigs, you probably feed them treats. Whether it's some extra apple or store-bought treats, normally it's perfectly fine for them. But some treats are really bad for guinea pigs, such as yogurt drops and salt chews.
Any treat that has fresh/dried veggies/fruits that are suitable for guinea pigs are great treats. Such as the brand Kaytee, You & Me or Oxbow. All these three brands provide great hay, pellets and treats. (You & Me also provides bowls and other cage accessories that you would you love!)
Today we are going to look at the ingredients of 2 treat brands (Kaytee and Oxbow) that I feed my guinea pigs.
Let's start with the Kaytee treat packet:
That's quite a lot of ingredients there on the back! But you can see from the front these Kaytee Timothy Biscuits and baked with apple. Both our guinea pigs love this treat! This treat also includes Flax Seed, Ground wheat and a lot of other things! The apple in this treat is dehydrated, which makes for a better treat.

Let's take a look at the Oxbow treat:
This treat packet has less ingredients, and they are mostly of veggies. There are dried carrots, dried potatoes (potatoes should never be fed to your guinea pigs directly! this treat packet also smells very strongly of potatoes), dried green and red peppers, dried cabbage, dried celery, kelp and sunflower oil. There is also Barely Flour, dehydrated Alfafa meal (that's good!) rolled oats, molasses (what?), canola oil and a few other things (preservatives). For some reason, Trixie does not like this treat but Pebbles loves it.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and that it was helpful! These two treat brands are great and you should definitely get them if you are looking for treats! Make sure to subscribe and see you next time on Trisha's Guinea Pig Adventures!
